Black Friday & Cyber Monday Travel Backpack Deals 2026

Most Black Friday pages in this category are written in November, in a hurry, and padded with “deals” that are the everyday price with a struck-through list price beside it. This one is built the other way round. We wrote it in September, from the recorded history of what actually went on sale in past years, so that by the time the sale window opens you already know which of our picks are worth waiting for, which to buy whenever you need them, and how to tell a real markdown from a decorative one. Then, as deals go live, they’re added here — on the same URL — with the live price and the date it was checked.

Two honesty rules apply to every line below. We do not predict discounts: every claim about what “historically” discounts is a dated, sourced record of a specific past sale, cited at the bottom of the page, and where we found no record we say so. And no price on this page comes from prose: every number is pulled live from the retailer by the same price layer the rest of the site uses, stamped with the day it was checked, and removed rather than left stale if a check is missed.

What historically goes on sale — and what rarely does

The category splits cleanly into three kinds of seller, and their sale behavior is different enough that it decides your timing.

Premium packs on Amazon: Osprey Farpoint and Fairview

This is the class with the clearest record of deep, real discounts in sale windows. Popular Science recorded the Osprey Farpoint 40, Fairview 55 and the rest of the Farpoint/Fairview line at 40% off on Amazon during Amazon’s October 2025 Prime Big Deal Days event, calling them the line’s lowest prices of the year. A month later, during Black Friday week (November 26, 2025), a dated Slickdeals post recorded a Farpoint 40 Amazon lightning deal at 49% off its list price at the time — on one colorway, for a short window. That is the pattern to expect from Osprey on Amazon: real percentage cuts, but often colorway-specific and time-limited, so the deal you see may not be on the color you want.

Premium brands that sell direct: Cotopaxi and Peak Design

Both discount, but on their own calendar and through their own channels. Cotopaxi ran a Summer Send-Off sale in August 2025 with items up to 40% off and the Allpa 42L at 30% off, on its own site; in Black Friday week (November 20, 2025) the Allpa 35L appeared at 28% off list through Woot, Amazon’s outlet, again on a single colorway. Peak Design ran a brand-wide Black Friday sale from November 20 to December 1, 2025 with 20–30% off most of its Travel Bags line — and the same write-up notes that in prior years the brand tended to exclude its newest products from the big discounts. So: Cotopaxi and Peak Design are worth waiting for if your timing is flexible, and the deal may be on the brand’s own site or an outlet channel rather than the main Amazon listing.

Amazon-native budget brands: BAGAIL, Gonex, BAGSMART, Hynes Eagle, MATEIN, LOVEVOOK

These are the brands where a Black Friday “deal” most often turns out to be the everyday price. Their pattern is coupons and short lightning deals through the whole year — the BAGAIL six-set, for instance, was recorded in a 12-hour Amazon lightning deal on December 30, 2023, well after the sale window — and a struck-through “list price” that sits beside the real price for much of the year. Our own daily price check regularly shows several of these picks with a list-price strike-through on an ordinary weekday. The honest reading: the Black Friday saving on an inexpensive organizer or a budget backpack is small in dollars and often no better than a random Tuesday. Buy these when you need them.

Where we found no sale record: Eagle Creek, Sea to Summit, Pacsafe, tomtoc

We looked and did not find a dated record of a Black Friday discount on the Eagle Creek Pack-It cubes, the Sea to Summit day packs, the Pacsafe anti-theft packs or the tomtoc 40L. That is not a claim that they never discount — it is a statement that we could not verify one, so we won’t tell you to wait for one. Treat any deal on these as a bonus, not an expectation. (Pacsafe’s Amazon listings currently return no price at all through the retailer’s data feed — our cards show “Check price” rather than a number — so a Pacsafe deal is one we may not be able to track even if it happens.)

Buy now or wait for November?

The rule that falls out of the history above, by product class. “Wait” means the record says a real discount has happened in the window before; it is not a promise it will again.

How to read a Black Friday deal in this category

• Check the list price against the everyday price. On Amazon-native brands the struck-through number is often the year-round anchor, not a real former price. Our cards show the live price with the date, so compare the November number to what the same card showed in October.
• Check the colorway. The recorded Osprey and Cotopaxi deals were on one color each. A 49%-off Farpoint in Black is not a 49%-off Farpoint.
• Check the channel. Cotopaxi and Peak Design deals have come from the brand’s own site or an outlet like Woot. Our buy buttons go to the main Amazon listing; if a brand-direct deal is better we’ll say so in the live-deals section rather than pretend the Amazon price is the best one.
• Check the warranty still applies. Osprey’s and Cotopaxi’s guarantees are part of why the premium packs are worth their price; a grey-market or third-party seller deal may not carry them. Buy from the brand or from Amazon as the seller.
• Don’t buy volume because it’s cheap. A discounted 55L is still a checked bag. The carry-on fit math in our size guide doesn’t change on Black Friday.
