Who it’s for

This is the pack for a first one-bag trip on a real budget, particularly for someone with a smaller frame who has tried a standard 40L pack and found the straps sat wrong. It arrives as a complete kit — bag plus three fitted cubes — which removes the second purchase most people don’t know they need until they’re packing.

It is the wrong pack if you carry heavy loads or walk long distances. That is not snobbery about budget gear; it is what the absence of a frame and a padded hip belt means in practice.

The bundle is the actual value

Three fitted packing cubes come in the box, and this is a bigger deal than it sounds for two reasons.

Second, and more usefully: the cubes are sized to the bag. Generic cubes are cut for suitcases, and the extra-large one in most sets fits a 40L backpack badly — it goes in one way round and wastes the space around it. Cubes designed for the pack they ship with sidestep that entirely, which is a genuine advantage over buying a bag and a random set.

The 40-liter question

Forty liters is the standard travel-pack capacity because it is the most you can carry while staying inside the common 22 x 14 x 9 inch carry-on limit. It is also right at the edge of that limit, which means a full 40L bag is the one most likely to be measured unfavorably.

LOVEVOOK doesn’t publish external dimensions, so we can’t do that arithmetic for you — and we won’t guess. That gap is the single biggest practical difference between this bag and something like the tomtoc 40L, which publishes 20.5 x 13 x 9 inches and lets you check before you buy.

The fit, described accurately

“For women” in budget bags usually means a smaller overall body and narrower straps rather than a re-engineered harness. That is a real benefit if a standard pack has always been too tall or too wide on you, and it is not the same thing as an Osprey Fairview, where the back-panel length and strap contour are published, fitted specifications.

The practical read: if you have a shorter torso and pack light, this will sit better than a generic 40L. If you have a long torso, it will sit worse, and no amount of strap adjustment fixes a back panel that’s too short. Where the price shows

The suspension.No frame sheet, minimal back-panel structure, and a hip strap rather than a hip belt. The difference is that a belt with a frame behind it transfers load onto your pelvis; a strap just stops the bag swinging. Packed to 15–20 lb this is fine. Packed to 30 lb, your shoulders carry all of it.

The materials. Light polyester and unbranded zips. Zips are what fail first on any pack, and unbranded coil zips on a clamshell that gets stuffed are the most likely failure point here.

The laptop sleeve

Stated at up to 17.3 inches, which is unusually generous — most travel packs stop at 15 or 16. If you carry a large machine, that is a genuine reason to look at this bag, because big-sleeve travel packs are rarer than they should be. What you don’t get is the protective, suspended sleeve of a premium pack: it’s a padded pocket, and a heavy laptop in it will pull the bag’s shape around.

The verdict

The LOVEVOOK 40L is a sensible starter kit rather than a bag to grow old with. The cubes in the box are worth real money and are correctly sized, the clamshell opening is the right layout, and the smaller cut helps if standard packs have never fit you. Pack it light, measure it once, and it will do several years of holidays without complaint.
